Sophia Hamidi-Verdon and Baptiste Moret opened Touffu, a café for two- and four-legged foodies, almost a year ago in Dijon, and are drawing positive initial feedback from the venture. The concept is attracting attention and could be expanded in the future.
"We're bringing something that didn't exist back home." Behind the project leaders are two furry, intelligent minds: Mia, 4, and Maki, 8. A pair of miniature Spitz dogs who were tired of wearing out their paw pads on the streets of Dijon, without being able to relax in a bar. To nibble on dried fish while chatting with their four-legged friends, the two dogs inspired the Dijon couple with the idea for Touffu, a unique place somewhere between a café and a specialty store.
"It's not always easy to find places to relax with your dog; we're often relegated to the back of the terrace and don't have access to the inside. Yet, many of us love walking with our pets and want to spoil them like our children (laughs).
